Goyne Park

My kids love going to the park and I love taking them.  Not only is it free, but the kids are also completely worn out after a couple of hours so I can have some time for me afterwards.  I also can usually bribe convince my kids to clean up the playroom with the promise of a trip to the park.  We normally go to Huguenot Park or Rockwood Park because they are the closest to home but today we were bored and we set out on an adventure to find a new park.  Our search led us to Goyne Park near Ecoff Elementary.  It was a little bit of a drive but well worth it.

My little one loved the ride on bouncy bugs....

And the seesaw....

The other cool thing about this park is that it's right beside Ecoff Elementary School so if you go on a weekend or during summer break you can enjoy the really cool playgrounds they have there as well.

The boys were all smiles.  Goyne Park is definitely worth a little extra drive.  There was lots of shade and there were bathrooms right beside the playground.  Next time we go I think we will take lunch because there were lots of nice spots to have a picnic.  The boys can't wait to go again.

El Cerro Azul Mexican Restaurant

I'm sure I've driven right past  El Cerro Azul many times without  paying attention.  I decided to give it a try because of a Groupon I saw for $20 worth of food for $10.  I love Groupon and always use it to try out some new places!  We went on a Tuesday and our first surprise was that kids eat for $1 on Tuesdays with an adult purchase. They even let us use the kid's meal discount with the Groupon.  We were seated quickly and served chips with salsa and white sauce immediately.  Our server was very friendly and both he and the manager were very accomadating to my son's food allergies.

I ordered the tropical fajitas which contained a magical blend of marinated chicken, red and yellow bell peppers, pineapple, and coconut.  They were by far the best fajitas I've ever had.  My husband had the Cancun fajitas which were equally delicious.  There were a variety of items on the kid's menu, even some regular kid approved food like a hamburgers, chicken nuggets, and mac and cheese in case your little ones don't love Mexican food.

We let my 7 year old order dessert in celebration on a job well done in the school play.  I think this picture speaks for itself!

In addition to the $1 kids meals on Tuesdays, they have $1 tacos on Wednesdays.  I also saw some coupons in this months Val-Pack.  It's well worth it.  I think we have a new family favorite!

A Little About Me and My Vision for This Blog

Hey there.  I'm a 30 something mom living a busy life in Midlothian, VA on a budget.  I have 5 sons ranging from 14 to 3.  We moved here a few years ago and I didn't even know where to begin as far as finding fun, budget conscious things to do with the kids.  As time has gone on I've found lots of amazing places and deals and I'm still always on the search for something new and fun.  I decided to start this blog to help other moms like me.  I'll be reviewing all kinds of parks, attractions, events, and restaurants.  I hope you enjoy my blog!!
